Incorporating Botox Into Your Regular Beauty Routine

Are you seeing the slow progression of age take over your features, making lines and wrinkles more prominent? You don’t have to book a facelift just yet. You can simply add Botox® treatments to your beauty routine and get a few more years of youthful, smooth skin.

At the practice of dermatologist Allen A. Flood, MD, you can get safe, dependable Botox injections to virtually erase forehead lines and wrinkles around your eyes. The results will amaze you and could keep you from needing surgical intervention.

Scared of Botox? Don’t be.

Some people think of Botox and get nervous. After all, doesn’t it contain poison? While Botox is a neurotoxin that is refined from Clostridium botulinum, a form of bacteria that could be poisonous, it’s not dangerous with the formulation Botox uses. In fact, Botox has been used in cosmetic treatments for many years. It’s even approved to treat lazy eye, excessive sweating, and other medical issues.

When injected into specific facial muscles, Botox paralyzes those muscles and prevents your face from forming deep lines and wrinkles when you frown, smile, or laugh. But, you don’t end up with “frozen face.” You can still express every emotion you have. You simply get smoother, fresher looking skin while retaining your normal range of facial expressions.

Adding Botox to your beauty routine

When you come to the office, Dr. Flood will consult with you about the areas of your face that may need help and carefully identify the muscle groups to be treated.

The Botox injections are administered with a needle so fine you’ll barely feel it. A local anesthetic can be applied if you’re sensitive to the small pinch that accompanies each injection. Once you’re finished with your treatment, you can go back to your normal routine. You can use a cold pack on your face if it feels tingly or sore.

You can see results from Botox within 24-48 hours of your treatment, although for some people it can take a week for the full effects to be visible. The smooth look of your face will last around four months, and then you can get more Botox injections.
