Botox or Pellevé: Which is Right for Me?

Have you looked in your mirror and wished for a way to turn back the clock on lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and that overall dull appearance that comes with aging skin? Thankfully there are plenty of products and procedures that can help you renew your appearance, bringing a vitality to your skin you thought was gone forever.

Finding the right product or procedure to give you the results you want can be overwhelming. They all seem to make promises about lines and wrinkles disappearing, and the glowing look of youth being restored. But how can you determine the best method for you to turn back time?

If you want to rejuvenate your skin and get rid of fine lines and wrinkles without the recovery time and pain involved in traditional surgical procedures, there are two excellent options: BotoxⓇ and PellevéⓇ. Depending on the results you desire, both of these products produce a smoother, younger-looking appearance in your skin.

You need to decide what results you want and expect. Pellevé firms the skin by encouraging production of collagen and elastin. Botox relaxes the muscles of the face which can accentuate deep lines and wrinkles. They’re different procedures, but both Botox and Pellevé will unveil a more youthful appearance.

The benefits of Botox

Botox, as most people already know, is made from purified botulinum toxin. When injected into your tissue, Botox works to relax the muscles in a particular area. Though it doesn’t “remove” wrinkles in the same ways as a more invasive procedure might, it does diminish frown lines, crows feet, and other wrinkles referred to as dynamic wrinkles (those wrinkles caused by muscle contractions).

Botox works best on the wrinkles around the eyes that appear when you laugh or squint. It’s also highly effective in treating those furrow lines between your eyebrows and the furrow-like wrinkles that appear on your forehead. This popular injectable works its magic by affecting the facial nerves that help the muscles contract.

As you age, your wrinkles become more prominent when you smile, laugh, frown, and make other facial expressions. By temporarily relaxing those muscles that cause the wrinkles, Botox is able to give your skin a smooth appearance. There’s no recovery time with a Botox procedure and results start showing almost immediately and continue to improve noticeably within the week.

The perks of Pellevé

The Pellevé procedure is a bit different than Botox and will render slightly different results. For those who want a firmer and refreshed appearance, Pellevé delivers results. By using radiofrequency technology, the Pellevé system works to boost collagen production.

As you age, your body slows production of collagen and elastin, which results in your skin taking on a more slack appearance. That’s what causes you to have that sagging appearance associated with growing older. Pellevé, by causing your body to produce more collagen, firms and tightens the skin.

Pellevé’s radiofrequency waves are noninvasive and travel into the deeper layers of your skin, warming the tissue. Even though Pellevé’s waves are gentle, your body perceives this as an injury. In response, collagen and elastin are produced to heal the area. This additional collagen produces new and firmer tissue, creating that supple look of youth you desire. Collagen production continues to rebuild skin tissues for weeks, possibly months, after your Pellevé treatments.
